4.01.16 – Newly Elected Officers Take the Helm at American Airlines Flight Attendants Union
FORT WORTH, Texas (April 1, 2016) – A major leadership change has taken place today at the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA), which represents the greatest number of Flight Attendants at any of the nation’s airlines. The four newly elected officers, led by National President Bob Ross, ran on a member driven platform calling for major changes.
The new leaders were swept into office by a membership looking to be recognized and respected for their enormous contributions and concessions that have led to unprecedented profits at the world’s largest airline. “Our Flight Attendants carried this company from the depths of bankruptcy to the heights of historic profits. They deserve to proportionately share in the success they built and to experience a quality of work life that addresses the stresses of air travel today,” said National President Bob Ross.
Ross takes over the Union alongside three other National Officers. National Vice President Nena Martin, National Secretary Marcy Dunaway, and National Treasurer Eugenio Vargas were also elected by the membership which exceeds 25,000 Flight Attendants. They take over the Union operations in Dallas and serve for a four-year term.
“APFA is changing. Today marks a new era in our Union and in our unwavering stance in standing up for our members. The traveling public, and I suspect the shareholders, are well aware of the highest level of safety and service provided by our APFA Flight Attendants. As the voice of these dedicated members, it our duty as leaders to assure that such exceptional professionalism is acknowledged and respected. It’s a new day at APFA and at AA,” said Ross.
