Former APFA VP Retires with A5 Pass Travel LAA/LUS
APFA has recently been informed by AA that former APFA Vice President Rick Knuth has retired from AA and was given the benefit of lifetime A5 travel offered by the company. He had served in union office for about six months and retired as a line Flight Attendant a month after his term ended.
We believe this sends yet another wrong message to our members, especially given the company’s recent downgrade in pass travel for line Flight Attendant retirees. In our view, this is a double standard that cannot be tolerated if we are to regain and keep the ultimate trust of our membership.
Moving forward, your union leadership will be exploring ways that we can tighten APFA constitutional and policy language regarding this issue as well as addressing the issue of union reps and officers who accept managerial and/or consulting positions with the company during or directly after their service to APFA.
We expect those who serve in any capacity at APFA to adhere to the same ethical standards as those they represent. It is our position that nothing less is acceptable if we hope to uphold the basic tenets of Unionism and preserve the standards set forth in our Constitution and Bylaws
