Update on New Uniform Reactions – LAA/LUS
After numerous meetings with APFA, the Company formally recognized, today, the health concerns raised by Flight Attendants who have reported experiencing adverse reactions and symptoms as a result of wearing the new uniform.
The Company has agreed to do further random testing of garments in addition to the independent testing APFA has already commenced, in order to determine what is causing Flight Attendants to experience rashes, skin irritation, headaches and other symptoms.
A first step is the Company’s establishment of a call center to review individual concerns and find appropriate solutions.
Even if you have already submitted a New Uniform Reaction Report on the APFA website, affected Flight Attendants are encouraged to call the AA call center at 1-800-VIP-CREW (800-847-2739). The call center will operate daily from 0700 – 1800 CST.
In addition to offering replacement garments made of non-wool and/or non-synthetic fabrics, the Company has agreed to allow those Flight Attendants affected to wear the prior uniform with call center approval.
APFA will be monitoring this process closely and comprehensively, reviewing all test results in order to determine the cause of the problems and ultimately reach a solution that adequately addresses the concerns of our members.
If you experience reactions to the new uniform:
- Fill out a New Uniform Reaction Reporton the APFA website
- Call the AA Call Center at 800-847-2739 (select #6, then choose option 5)
- Consider filing an IOD
Thank you to all Flight Attendants who have taken the time to file detailed reports. We will provide further updates throughout this process.
