Streamlined Eligibility Requirements for Retirement – LAA/LUS
The eligibility requirements for retiring are being streamlined for all employees. Effective 1/1/17, the 65 Point Plan will be the marker for determining eligibility. Employees with at least 10 years of company seniority, who’s age and company seniority equal 65 or more, will be able to retire upon separation from American Airlines.
Retirement benefits include:
• Retiree Travel (D1, D2R, D2P, D3, ZED, AA20 positive space, and 20% off Advantage Award travel)
• A Retiree ID card
• Sick Time and Vacation Payout
• A Retirement Gift and Certificate (in lieu of a gift, Flight Attendants can elect to have the company make a $100 donation to the Wings Foundation)
Employees who retire and are between the ages of 55 and 65 at the time of their separation will still have the option to purchase AA’s Retiree Medical Insurance. Flight Attendants who had previously resigned under the 50/55 Rule will be grandfathered and have the ability to purchase Retiree Medical Insurance when they turn 55.
Pension benefits remain unchanged and are still governed by the JCBA for LAA Flight Attendants, and the PBGC for LUS Flight Attendants.
If you are considering retirement and are not sure if you qualify, eligibility can be confirmed by calling the Retiree Service Center at (844) 543-5747 or your Flight Service Manager.
