4.26.17 – Statement by Bob Ross on Pay Raises at American Airlines
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Statement by Bob Ross, National President, Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) Representing Flight Attendants at American Airlines on Pay Raises at American Airlines
FORT WORTH, TEXAS (April 26, 2017) – The pay raises announced today for American Airlines Flight Attendants are welcomed by our members and our union. Unity pays – and we’re going to see the payoff, starting soon, in every paycheck.
Make no mistake: Management is raising our pay for one very simple reason. Today’s announcement is due to the solidarity and determination of the front-line employees who strive every day to make American not only the largest airline, but also the leading airline in the industry.
Last month, when arbitrators handed down a ruling that left us lagging behind other carriers, we told management flat out: That’s unacceptable. Failing to invest in the people who take care of passengers – under conditions that grow more difficult every day – is no way to run an airline.
To their credit, American Airlines management listened. Building on today’s big win for Flight Attendants, we’re going to keep speaking out about how to improve our jobs and improve conditions in our industry. We expect management to keep listening – because that’s the right way to run an airline.   Â
