Hurricane Irma Update 5 – LAA/LUS

Hurricane Irma is currently a Category 3 and the storm’s center is located 125 miles southeast of Key West. It is packing sustained winds of 125 mph with gusts in excess of 150 mph and is moving west at 9 mph. It is expected to restrengthen as it begins to move north. The Florida Keys and South Florida are beginning to experience strong tropical winds and rain from the outer bands of this storm.
At 1830 (ET) last night, American Airline’s last flight departed Miami in advance of the storm. Flight Attendants are to be commended for carrying thousands of passengers and employees from Miami and other affected airports prior to their closures.

DAB – All flights are cancelled. Operations on Sept. 11 are under review.
EYW – All flights are cancelled. Tentative plans to resume operations on Sept. 11 pending damage assessment.
FLL – All flights are cancelled. Tentative plans to resume operations on Sept. 11 pending damage assessment.
GNV – Limited operations. All MIA service cancelled until Sept. 13.
JAX – Airport closes at 1900 (ET) tonight. All MIA flights cancelled. All flights cancelled on Sunday and Monday. Tentative plans to resume ops on Sept. 12.
MCO – All flights cancelled after 1405 today. Tentative plans to resume operations on Sept. 12 pending damage assessment.
MIA – All flights cancelled. Tentative plans to resume limited operations on Sept. 11 – Sept 13 pending weather conditions and damage assessment.
MLB – All flights cancelled. Tentative plans to resume operations on Sept. 11 pending damage assessment.
PBI – All flights cancelled. Tentative plans to resume operations on Sept. 11 pending damage assessment.
RSW – All flights cancelled. Tentative plans to resume operations on Sept. 12 pending damage assessment.
SAV – All flights cancelled. Tentative plans to resume operations on Sept. 12.

APFA Scheduling Help Desk Operations – LAA/LUS
The APFA Scheduling Help Desk will be staffed on Sunday, September 10th, from 0900-1700 (CT).
The phone lines are being staffed to handle scheduling and contract questions only in anticipation of irregular operations caused by the storm and the impact it may have on trips scheduled.
