1.10.18 – (LAA/LUS) – Message from APFA Voting Board of Directors – Revised Settlement Agreement Reached on FOI Presidential Grievance
The APFA voting Board of Directors (BOD) sent out a communication on December 11th. In that communication, we expressed our frustration with the FOI Presidential Grievance settlement that was signed on December 8th.
After hearing our concerns and the concerns of many members, the Company agreed to meet with us to address the issues. The BOD and APFA JSIC spent Saturday and Sunday, January 6-7, preparing to meet with the Company. Our goal was to rescind the settlement. However, the Company refused our request and advised us that the only subjects they were willing to amend or alter were the specific points in the original settlement. They were unwilling to make significant changes or improvements in compensation. Our only option was to mitigate any potential disparities or inequities created by this settlement.
We had a robust discussion on remedies, and shared many ideas—all while working collectively and with a unified voice—with the primary goal of meeting the needs of all 27,000 members.
Our meeting, facilitated by a National Mediator, was productive. While the mediation process requires confidentiality about all proposals discussed, we can share that our unified resolve resulted in the following amended agreement:
