3.20.18 – (LAA/LUS) – FAA Issues SAFO on Smoke, Odor, Fumes In-Flight

This week, the FAA released a Safety Alert for Operators (SAFO) on Smoke/Odor/Fume (SOF) events in flight. This is a step in the right direction and we are thankful the FAA is acknowledging and providing guidance on SOF.

Over the past year, APFA has been collaborating with a recently established work group consisting of various affected stakeholders within the Company and the Unions on property to review AA’s SOF policies and create guidelines for mitigating the effects of these events.

We will continue fighting for a safe work place and training to ensure we know what to do should we find ourselves in harm’s way.
