Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) Opposes Nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh
to the US Supreme Court
Euless, TX – (July 10, 2018) – The Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA), the world’s largest independent flight attendant union representing the 27,000 members of American Airlines, spoke out today in opposition to the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court. APFA has always advocated for the rights of working people and stands in solidarity with brothers and sisters at other Unions in opposition to Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination.
“We oppose the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh. His demonstrated opposition to the rights of workers and Unions, as well as his stance against women’s rights and marriage equality, make him unsuitable for the highest court of our nation,” said APFA National President Lori Bassani.
“Our nation looks to the Supreme Court to provide the needed checks and balances on our government and is intended as an independent body, not a political one,” Bassani continued. “This move could impact rights of workers and their families for decades to come. Many of our nation’s working people depend on Unions to bring fairness and equality to the workplace and to protect their individual rights. This is a serious time in our history, and we will not stand by while workers’ rights are continually trampled.”
