10.02.18 – (LAA/LUS) – APFA and APA Professional Standards – Union First!
Have a Workplace Issue? Call Your Union First!
The members of our two unions have experienced many of the same merger-related challenges during the past few years, including the introduction of unfamiliar policies and procedures, scheduling practices that are nothing short of chaotic, and member integration. This degree of change and unpredictability can lead to increased workplace stress and conflict within, and between, the different employee groups on the property. When conflict does occur, it’s essential that the first call for assistance goes to your union representatives.
APA and many APFA reps recently participated in a joint professional standards program, a two-day training offered periodically. We believe this peer-to-peer engagement approach is highly effective at resolving conflicts. It’s also preferable to any solution that involves management, which often compounds the problem by triggering company discipline.
You may reach APFA National Professional Standards by calling 817-540-0108 ext. 8615, or by calling local professional standards reps on council.
For ready identification, all APA Professional Standards volunteers wear a green lanyard. You may reach APA Professional Standards by calling 817-402-2181.
Remember: union first! Give APFA and APA the opportunity to collaborate as needed to address your conflicts first — we’re here for you.
