(Dallas, TX- Feb. 21)—The Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) the Union representing 27,000+ American Airlines Flight Attendants announced today they will be protesting their company’s unfair labor practices, continual contract violations, delay of new uniforms, a punitive attendance policy, payroll issues, scheduling glitches and announcements of base “re-sizing” that adds to the plummeting employee morale of the Flight Attendant work force.
“Among other major changes in our work lives, our professional flight attendants are reeling from yet another management decision that may impact hundreds of our members in a negative manner,” said Lori Bassani, National President of APFA, referring to the recent announcement to down-size Phoenix and St. Louis by a third of their current numbers, saying they will be absorbed in other bases. She also said, “APFA recently entered into bargaining in January of this year and management has already begun direct-bargaining with our members, an extremely disingenuous move on their part. We will not tolerate this disrespectful behavior and mockery of our bargaining process.”
