Wednesday, March 13, 2019
Shortly after the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max 8 and 9, President Lori Bassani received the following letter from Shannon Bird, State Representative of Colorado House District 35.
“As a member of the Colorado State House of Representatives, I would like to extend personal thanks to Ms. Lori Bassani, National President of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants for her efforts to make sure that every American is safe when he or she boards an airplane in our Country. Her prompt calls to action regarding the safety of the Boeing 737 Max 8 benefited each and every member of the flying public and I am certain, helped to influence the President’s decision today to ground this type of aircraft. In Colorado, we are grateful for her efforts.”
The safety of our Flight Attendants and our passengers continues to be paramount to our profession. We applaud the decision to ground this aircraft until it is assured that it’s safe to fly. Our condolences go out to the families of the loved ones who perished in the accident.
