APFA to Host Lobby Day 2019 in Washington, D.C. on October 29th & 30th

The APFA Government Affairs Department is excited to announce that we will be hosting our 2019 Lobby Day in Washington, D.C. on October 29-30th.

This is a voluntary event where APFA members travel to Capitol Hill to advocate for issues that are important to Flight Attendants. Last year, APFA lobbied on airplane seat size and evacuation standards, emotional support animals, cabin air quality and cabin temperature. Just days after our Lobby Day, the House of Representatives passed the 2018 FAA Reauthorization Bill. We received extremely positive feedback from everyone who attended last year and we look forward to bringing another strong team to the Hill in October.

A major concern for APFA members continues to be fumes in the cabin. Senator Blumenthal’s Cabin Air Safety Act (S.1112) will be a top issue on our agenda. There are also several bills that protect the PBGC and several bills that support the rights of organized workers. In addition, this will be a good opportunity to remind Congress that many key parts of the 2018 FAA Bill have yet to be implemented, including the 10-hour minimum rest rule and the studies on evacuation safety. We will narrow down the legislative agenda as we move closer and it becomes clear where our efforts can be best directed. This is a great opportunity for APFA to be visible in numbers on Capitol Hill.

Lobby Day Logistics: APFA members must attend on days off as neither trip removals nor positive space travel is provided. A hotel room, Metro fare and meals will be provided by APFA. Please attend in your alternative uniform, blue uniform or business attire.
