SMS Text Notifications Are Here!
Join the SMS text notification service to get urgent and important updates from APFA. Multiple groups are available for you to opt in to, such as PBS bidding reminders and base specific messages from APFA National Leadership and your local Base Leadership. More groups can be added as the system evolves.
Example:
This is an optional service and does not replace the APFA hotlines. In addition, this new service will not replace or terminate the text reminders that are sent out from the Contract and Scheduling Departments, nor will it change how members can text an APFA representative as a Live Chat option. This is another way to stay informed when it comes to time-sensitive and urgent matters.

PAC Member of the Month – Luciana Pais – July 2019
Luciana is based in LGA and has been flying 19 years. Luciana is also an active member of the APFA Government Affairs Team having participated in APFA’s 2018 Cabin Safety Lobby Day. Thank you, Luciana, for your commitment to the APFA Government Affairs Department and the APFA PAC. See what Luciana has to say about the APFA PAC:
The APFA Political Action Committee (PAC) is comprised of small voluntary donations from APFA members to support political candidates and members of Congress who impact our job. Dues money is never used. Our PAC contributes to both Democrats and Republicans who advocate for broad issues and regulations that advance air travel safety and the Flight Attendant profession.
Elections matter! Now is the time to start building our PAC for 2020 so please join today. A contribution of as little as $1 or $2 per paycheck will add up to have a major impact. Remember, our strength is in our numbers.

Filing a Claim for Optional Short-Term Disability Insurance Benefits (MetLife)
If your disability continues for eight or more days, you should file your disability claim immediately. Do not wait until your sick pay is used up; file by the eighth day of your disability. The sooner you file, the sooner your claim can begin processing. However, the latest you can file your claim is six months after your disability began.
If you are covered under a state-mandated short-term disability plan and the state requires you to file sooner, the state’s filing deadline overrides the Company’s deadline. If you file your disability claim beyond the six-month deadline (or the state-mandated deadline, if sooner), your claim will not be accepted, and you will not be eligible for benefits.
Gather your treatment dates, your last worked and last paid dates, as well as your physician’s and supervisor’s contact information. Then, call MetLife at 888-533-6287 and select option 2.

Hotel Allocations
Please check out the Hotel page on the apfa.org website for current hotel allocations and temporary relocations.
Need a Ride?
Section 6.C.2.– At points other than the Flight Attendant’s crew base, where the Company’s scheduled or prearranged transportation is not available within twenty (20) minutes after such is requested by the Flight Attendant, the Flight Attendant will be authorized to take alternate transportation to the hotel. On Overnights scheduled for less than ten (10) hours and thirty (30) minutes, transportation shall be available within ten (10) minutes and the twenty (20) minute wait set forth above shall not apply.

ETB Error Messages
If you receive an error message on ETB, contact Crew Scheduling immediately. ETB is one of the only systems where Crew Scheduling can assist. These messages can populate while ETB is validating another request. If that request fails, Crew Scheduling can view to see if you were the next who bid for the trip and assist with the transaction.
Direct Connect Claim
If you are submitting a Scheduling Systems Issue report regarding a mis-award, please be sure to submit a Direct Connect pay claim immediately upon discovery. This places a timestamp with the Company on your pay claim. It can take weeks for APFA and then the AA Compliance team to investigate these reports, so having the time it was submitted to the Company documented will ensure it will not be denied due to a late submission.
