September 2019 Base Brief

We hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend, the summer just goes by too fast here. For our New Hires who have yet to experience a Fall in New England, be sure to visit a local farm for Apple Picking, sample all things Cider, check out a Corn Maze, visit Waterfire in RI, go to one of the many County/State Fairs, take a trip to Salem, MA and enjoy the brilliant colors of the foliage.

Amy will be on vacation 09SEP-17SEP, should you need any APFA assistance during this time, please contact Kelli or APFA HDQ. Enjoy your time off!

Helpful Hints and Reminders:

CBD Oil and products
The DOT’s stance is that even though a product containing CBD oil may not say it contains CBD oil or marijuana, the accidental use of a CBD product resulting in a DOT positive drug test will be a confirmed positive even if the Flight Attendant is unsure how they ingested the drug. The DOT’s Drug and Alcohol testing regulation – CFR Part 40 at 40.151 (e) does NOT authorize “medical marijuana” under a state law to be a valid medical explanation for a transportation employee’s positive drug test.
For further questions regarding CBD oil or medical marijuana, please contact your APFA EAP Department at [email protected] or (817) 540-0108 extension 8701

Fume Events
We continue to see Fume Events, make sure you know what to do should you experience one. The APFA has yellow laminated cards available that you may attach to your ID lanyard, check Kelli’s mailbox for extra cards.
Remember:
* Notify the Flight Deck
* Seek medical treatment immediately if needed
* Ensure Flight Service Management completes the Cabin Odor Checklist
* Follow up with APFA at [email protected][email protected], and [email protected].
* File a CERS Report within 24 hours via the Flight Service Website or the CERS App on your FA Tablet
* Fill out the Cabin Discrepancy Worksheet, give a copy to the flight deck and file a Cabin ASAP Report
* Optionally, report the event to the Global Cabin Air Quality Executive which is a global coalition of health and safety advocates committed to raising awareness and finding solutions to poor air quality in aircraft
