October 2019 Manning/Allocations Information

MANNING INFORMATION

6164 Headcount for October Decrease of 17 from September, increase of 562 year over year.

5687 Available Headcount at DFW. Increase of 16 from September, increase of 328 year over year.

4676 Bid jobs are planned. Loss of 50 bid jobs from September, increase of 272 year over year.

1011 (17.5%) Flight Attendants are planned to serve reserve in September. System reserve average is 16.8%.

74 VLOA (bid leaves) are planned for DFW in October. VLOA’s opens noon DFW time on 03SEP and close noon DFW time on 07SEP. Information and ballots for VLOA’s can be found on Crew Portal or Crew Resources All Flight Attendants interested in taking a VLOA should submit a ballot.

Projected Target Line average for DFW 82 hours.

System Projected Line average is 80.3 hours.

DFW Concerns
Each month Crew Allocations sends us pairings for the next months schedule. We review the pairings and identify sequences that need improvement. We send the sequence information to crew allocations for adjustments. The goal is to have these pairings modified before they are presented to the base. Sometimes these difficult trips are adjusted, many times they are not. Our objective in bringing attention to undesirable parings and providing feedback to crew allocations is to facilitate optimizer programming changes. October domestic and NIPD flying did not see much improvement month over month. For October, we sent pairings with excessive sit time (especially on the last day of the trip), pairings built to maximum legalities, pairings with multiple short layovers that currently meet optimizer programming guidelines that are problematic and parings with all-niter flying and day layovers. We continue to advocate for high time turns, high time two-day trips and commutable trips. October is the last month for most of our summer seasonal flying. Paris and Madrid’s evening departure will continue to operate on specific days of the week. Paris (Flt.22) operates on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Madrid (Flt.156) on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
