APFA AND AA CONCLUDE ARBITRATION HEARING CHALLENGING UNFAIR AND OUTRAGEOUS ATTENDANCE PROGRAM
On Thursday and Friday, September 12th -13th , APFA and the Company completed the final two days of intense arbitration on APFA’s Presidential Grievance. APFA is legally challenging the unreasonableness of AA’s disrespectful Attendance & Performance Program, and the violations of several key provisions of the JCBA. APFA put on a detailed, passionate case to expose the harm and pressure this program is placing on our Flight Attendants and fought vigorously against the Company’s evidence at the hearing.
After five days of arbitration, the lawyers for each side will now prepare written closing arguments for the arbitrator’s consideration. We expect that the arbitrator will issue a ruling within approximately 60-90 days, as there are many complex issues to decide.
We are so proud of our Flight Attendants who came forward to tell their compelling stories of what it’s like to live under this onerous Attendance & Performance Program. We would like to thank every person who attended the arbitration and supported our team and witnesses. There was a full house throughout all five days of the hearing, and your support sent a strong message of how much this case means to our Flight Attendants.
Although we can never predict the outcome of a legal case, we can guarantee the fight. This was a strong one.
We will continue to update you.
In Unity,
APFA National Vice President
