Strike Ends With a Five Year Deal!
Chicago’s Mayor, Lori Lightfoot said she “learned a lot” from the strike and is pleased they were able to achieve a five year deal.
Although the strike has ended, the Chicago Teachers Union Vice President Davis Gates, is “deeply disappointed in our mayor” as it wasn’t an agreement, it was “an or-else.”
Some bargaining missteps by Mayor Lightfoot could make negotiating with police and fire unions costly.
“Thank you to all of the APFA members who joined the picket lines in Chicago. Now, more than ever, it’s important to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our union brothers and sisters.” – Robin Charbonneau, APFA National Communications Chair
