November 2019 Boston Base Brief
“Now is no time to think of what you do not have. Think of what you can do with what there is.” – Ernest Hemingway
We can’t believe how quickly the year has gone by. We are thankful for our co-workers and truly appreciate you all. As we head into the Holiday Season, we want to remind everyone that the APFA Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to support Flight Attendants who are experiencing difficulties of a personal or work-related nature. They help Flight Attendants identify and resolve personal concerns related to health, family, alcohol, drugs, emotional stress, or other issues that may affect job performance. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. APFA EAP Department at (817) 540-0108 Ext. 8701
“Thanksgiving is an emotional holiday. People travel thousands of miles to be with people they only see once a year. And then discover once a year is way too often.” – Johnny Carson
777 Training – Everyone at the Base will have to be qualified on the aircraft in preparation for BOS-LHR in March 2020
There will be 3 separate 777 training classes offered during the month of DEC. Two of these sessions are our “standard” offerings where any base is eligible to place a ballot to attend and slots will be awarded in system seniority order. These two classes will be capped at 40 total Flight Attendants. The dates that these will be offered are below:
· Thursday, December 5th
· Monday, December 9th
In addition to the above dates, we will be offering 1 BOS only 777 course. This session will only be eligible for enrollment by current BOS based Flight Attendants and will be capped at 25 slots total. We have also placed our single IFS training course directly following this class in case there are crewmembers that need to attend the service qualification for the BOS-LHR route as well. The IFS training class will not be limited to only BOS based crew and will be filled based on system seniority.
I’ve outlined the dates for the training below:
· Tuesday, December 10th – BOS only 777
· Wednesday, December 11th – International Flagship Service Training
We wanted to make sure that you were aware of these dates for training as the ballots will go live on the Flight Service website, 01NOV at 1200 CT and will stay open until 06NOV at 1200 CT for December training.
