Special Exhibition Preview

November 11th and 14th
The 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York City
Open to active and retired flight crew members

Members of the 9/11 community are invited to the museum for a special preview of Revealed: The Hunt for Bin Laden, which opens to the public at the 9/11 Memorial Museum on November 15, 2019. The exhibition examines the decade long search detailing how the hunt carried on over years, despite disappointment and sacrifice by men and women from all parts of the country who devoted themselves to tracking down the leader of al Qaeda.

Become a Member Activist!

I had the pleasure of pinning the APFA Member Activist pin on Gaviota Morales, DCA-based Flight Attendant.

Gaviota and approximately 40 APFA members from all over the nation met with members of the House, Senate and other Leaders at the annual Fly In – Lobby Day!

Take a moment and sign-up to become a Member Activist.  You’ll be “in the know” and will be one of the firsts to receive accurate information to share on the line during negotiations and beyond.

APFA Lobby Day 2019 – Photo Gallery

Last week more than 40 APFA members traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the political process and represent APFA. They discussed cabin air quality, minimum rest, minimum seat size, and more.

APFA members were divided into 13 teams of 2-3 people and each team took between 4-5 meetings. In total, nearly 60 offices were visited, mainly focused on the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, districts with high concentrations of APFA members, and offices who likely support labor issues.

Light Duty?

While on an IOD, if your doctor removes you from work with restrictions or light duty, it simply means that you are unable to work. Sedgwick and AA are aware that light duty is not an option for Flight Attendants. You’ll remain off work until your doctor releases you to full duty without restrictions.

ROTA – Standby

Prior to assigning RAPs, ROTA assigns all remaining standby shifts in inverse seniority order to available Reserves- those who have not been assigned/awarded a sequence or Standby shift.  The remaining standby shifts are assigned to Reserves with less than 2 Standby clicks first.  The Reserve must be available for at least the minimum number of days of the Standby shift and 5 hours for each of the projected days of the shift.

A 2-day Standby shift would be assigned to a Reserve good for 2 or more days with 80 hours or less in his/her RSVCOT.
Remember when bidding for a Standby shift in ROTA, use the criteria:

REPORT AFTER and REPORT BEFORE.
REPORT AFTER 1200 and REPORT BEFORE 1800 will award you a Standby shift which reports between 1200 and 1800

Did you know that you can reference FAR’s, by phase of flight, on the APFA website under Safety & Security Department?

We have listed, in PDF format, those that are frequently used by Flight Attendants in course of duty – and they are listed in order of phase of flight!

You can access the list here: FA FAR LIST

As of today, there have been 5,126 Flight Attendants who have filed uniform reaction reports.

Please continue to utilize the Uniform Reaction Report Form on the APFA website if you experience a suspected reaction to your uniform.
