BOS  Base Brief – January 2020

We hope everyone had wonderful holidays with family & friends. 2020 is going to be an exciting year in Boston. Listed below are important upcoming dates and reminders:

Massachusetts Sick Hours 
MA SK hours begin anew at the start of the year. If you do not have any sick hours or are under 40 hrs, will be loaned 40 hrs made whole to 40. Please remember to keep track of your hours as you use them.

Massachusetts Paid Family Leave
As many of you are aware, you have seen a monthly withdrawal since October from your paycheck for the upcoming MA Paid Family Leave. We expect to hear more from the Company later in the year in regard to the implementation of this as this Leave goes into effect January 1, 2021.

10JAN-17JAN – Vacation Buyback
The JCBA provisions for Flight Attendants to sell back their accrued vacation to the Company on both a monthly and annual basis. This is your opportunity to sell back all or a portion of your vacation back to the Company prior to the yearly vacation bidding process. You can access the Annual Vacation Bid and Award (AVBA) via Crew Portal under the monthly bidding tab. Click on PBS Base and then Vacation. Vacation buyback is awarded by base, in seniority order within the base and will be paid out on the first paycheck of June 2020. Subsequently, you can also participate in monthly vacation buyback, but only if it is offered for those specific months.

2020-2021 Annual Vacation Bidding
We are very fortunate to have Marie Kemp Christian (FOI Specialist) helping us once again with vacation bidding in FEB, but she will only be in operations a limited number of days. Once we receive confirmed dates from Marie, we will pass them along to you.

02MAR – Land’s End Uniforms Debut on the Line
Only the OEKO-TEK Standard 100 certified uniforms by Land’s End will be permitted in the Operation. As a reminder, please refrain from wearing any piece of the new uniform until this changeover date.

29MAR – The 777 makes its return to BOS
The 777 returns the end of March with flights to both London (LHR) and MIA. While we know that BOS crews will be covering the LHR flights, we are still awaiting news regarding the MIA flights.

APFA NATIONAL OFFICER ELECTIONS 
Be on the lookout for the Candidate Booklet and Ballot from APFA Headquarters. Please double check that APFA has your current mailing address. You must be a member in good standing (dues current) in order for your ballot to be counted. Ballots must be received by 1000 CT, January 29, 2020.
