Contractual Provisions for Rescheduled Sequences

With all the sequences that contain cancellations, there have been numerous changes to Flight Attendants sequences this month. There are contractual provisions that Flight Attendants may reference for these changes.

JCBA 10.J.2.b:Prior to Sequence Report – More than 3 Days out

You may reject the changed sequence if the change includes different:

• Layover cities
• Cities pairs
• Number of days in the sequence
• Arrives later than the originally scheduled sequence

 

When you are notified of the changed sequence you may call Crew Schedule and tell them you would like to be removed without pay. Crew Schedule must remove you.
JCBA 10.J.2.c: Prior to sequence Report – Less than 3 days out

You may request to be removed from the sequence, with Crew Schedule’s consent, if the change includes different:

• Layover cities
• Cities pairs
• Number of days in the sequence
• Arrives later than the originally scheduled sequence

 

When you are notified of the changed sequence you may call Crew Schedule and ask if you can be removed without pay. Crew Schedule may consent and remove you or they may deny you and you must fly the sequence. If you fly the sequence you will be pay protected for the greater of the original value of the sequence at the time of award or the actual value of the sequence.

Please note: The time of the notification of the change determines if you are more than 3 days out or less than 3 days out. The Letter of Agreement for APR Lay Pay Guarantee Crew Schedule is currently using CCI as notification as part of the agreement. Due to this, the Company has agreed to relax the lines between 3 days out and less than 3 days on a case-by-case basis. If you want to be removed from the sequence, please call Crew Schedule as soon as possible after you receive the CCI notification.

If they deny you and you feel your request should have been given consideration, please fill out a System issues Report located at APFA.org and click on the ‘change to APR Sequence’ tab. Include screenshots of the CCI notification and the sequence. APFA will look into it for you.

JCBA 10.J.2.d: Original Sequence Report changed to an Earlier Sequence Report

In no case will a Lineholder be required to report for a sequence earlier than originally scheduled. If the rescheduled departure is earlier than the originally scheduled departure, you may choose to be removed from the sequence with crew substitution pay. Crew Schedule must remove you upon your request.

JCBA 10.J.7: Return to Crew Base

At the time of rescheduling, the Company shall make every effort to schedule such Flight Attendant crew to arrive back in their crew base no later than the time she/he was originally scheduled to return. In no event will the Flight Attendant(s) be rescheduled beyond her/his originally scheduled return time unless the Company has unsuccessfully made every effort to provide Reserve coverage to continue the sequence from that point without causing a delay or cancellation. These provisions shall not be used to eliminate deadheading where no delay is involved.

If there is reserve coverage and the reserve is able to make the departure without causing a delay, you cannot be rescheduled beyond the footprint of your sequence. If no reserve is available or the departure would be delayed, you may go beyond the original footprint.
