APFA Calls on Lawmakers to Increase Protective Measures for Crewmembers and Passengers
Your health and safety have been and continue to be top priorities for APFA. Since January, we have warned the company about the coronavirus and urged them to prepare for its worldwide spread. Our industry needs to take every precaution possible so that crewmembers do not become infected and further transmit the virus to others. APFA has consistently pressed the company for increased safety measures that must be made immediately and sustained throughout the crisis.
Flight Attendants are safety professionals and aviation’s first responders. We were declared essential workers amidst this public health crisis. We cannot stay at home, but we can be sure to take crucial precautions. We need to be provided:
- Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to protect our health, including requiring that passengers wear masks
- Thoroughly sanitized airplanes to keep ourselves and passengers safe
- Enhanced social distancing measures in the cabin to combat the spread of the virus
- Contact tracing and immediate notification of possible exposure
- Access to COVID-19 testing as soon as it becomes more available
- Hazard pay to reflect the risk we undergo as essential workers

Contact Your Representatives! Flight Attendants are essential workers and need to be treated as such. Urge your Representatives to keep Flight Attendants and airplanes safe!
We are all in this together. Take care of yourself and your crew.
