Recognizing Essential Workers
We would like to personally thank all of the essential workers who join Flight Attendants in risking their health and safety during the COVID-19 outbreak. While much of America has been instructed to stay home, these front-line workers continue to keep the country open despite the personal risks. From hospitals to grocery stores, aircraft cleaners to hotel van drivers, postal workers to TSA officers, we salute all the essential workers across the country and throughout the world who continue to put their safety on the line.Months into this pandemic, essential workers are still fighting for protections that should be provided without question. APFA, along with Unions across the country, has written to countless government leaders highlighting the need for more protections for essential workers, and we will not stop until our needs are adequately addressed.
Here at American and throughout the airline industry, more can be done to protect front-line workers. We will continue to advocate for increased protection when it comes to Personal Protective Equipment, social distancing, enhanced aircraft cleaning before every flight, contact tracing, and notification of exposure.
If you come in contact with an essential worker, be sure to thank them for the service they are providing. APFA will continue to work with other Unions on Capitol Hill to ensure we receive the protection we deserve.
In Solidarity,
Julie Hedrick
APFA National President
