APFA EAP, CIRT, PS and FAIR Assistance Programs
Your APFA Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Department is a confidential service provided to you as a member of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants. We are made up of four departments to assist you. We are Flight Attendants helping Flight Attendants with your overall well-being.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Representatives are here to assist Flight Attendants with issues with alcohol or substance abuse. We can also provide referrals for child or elder care, confidential counseling, or provide referrals to therapists in your area. Some common reasons that Flight Attendants will reach out to our EAP reps are depression, anxiety, stress, emotional distress and dealing with grief.
Professional Standards (PS) Representatives are here to assist you in resolving any problems on the plane, problems that may be adversely affecting performance in the workplace. We are here to provide Flight Attendants the opportunity to resolve conflicts/concerns about fellow Flight Attendants or co-workers without Management involvement.
Our Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) is available for confidential assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a program that was developed as a collaborative effort between American Airlines and the APFA EAP to assist Flight Attendants after experiencing a critical or traumatic workplace event. All CIRT Team Base Coordinators are members of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.
Flight Attendants in Recovery (FAIR)Â is a program that provides a safe place for Flight Attendants in recovery. We are here to learn life and occupational skills from one another to support ongoing recovery. The FAIR group is open to any Flight Attendant who requests membership and is also pursuing a life free of mood-altering substances and/or compulsive behaviors.
