A Message to St. Louis Flight Attendants

St. Louis Flight Attendants,

Wednesday, July 1st was an incredibly difficult day for Flight Attendants at American Airlines. The announcement of the intent to close the St. Louis and Raleigh-Durham crew bases was devastating. The news takes some time to digest, but we wanted you to hear from us sooner rather than later so that you know that you will be able to count on a tremendous APFA support system.

Your APFA St. Louis leadership have been fantastic advocates for your base, and we intend to stand beside them throughout this entire process. While the transition of St. Louis from a crew base to a satellite base is an imperfect solution to a difficult situation, we are pleased that there will still be opportunities to originate trips from St. Louis.

We know that you will have many questions on contractual language pertaining to a base closure, and we will offer as much support as needed. In the coming months, National President Julie Hedrick plans to visit St. Louis to help with transition questions and planning and will coordinate with Nena and Carol to find a time that would be most workable for all of you.

History has not been kind to the St. Louis base, and we recognize and respect that. Since your local APFA leadership was instrumental in delaying the closing of St. Louis into 2021, we have time to work through the details, and help everyone make the best decision for their situation. We are thankful for your service and stand ready to support you in any way possible.
