Allocations Information
DFW continues to see an increase in block hours for August. The base was allocated a total of 172,216 hours, an increase of 18,981 hours from July. The increase in hours will create an additional 330 bid jobs for August. DFW is flying about half of the August 2019 schedule. Overall, block hours are down 54% at DFW and 57% system-wide year-over-year.
Optimizer programming remains consistent for August, with a few tweaks added to encourage two-day trips. We continue to voice our displeasure regarding pairings working excessive legs on multiple days of a trip. Current programming limits duty periods to a maximum of 9:15 when pairings consist of three or more legs per duty. We appreciate the shorter duty day limitations but would like to limit three-leg duty periods to one duty day per sequence while working under COVID-19 protocols.
Base Leadership continues to address network cancellations occurring after the PBS run. When pairings are entered into PBS, it is under the expectation that they will operate. Due to state and country pandemic restrictions, and in some cases, crew safety concerns, these flights may have to be canceled after-the-fact. We will continue to work with management to secure pay protections for Flight Attendants affected by these cancellations.
