7.21.20 – APFA ORD Base Brief – Tuesday, July 21, 2020
Tuesday, July 21, 2020
Hello ORD Flight Attendants:
We know you have been inundated with emails, so we will keep this one short. The July 31st deadline to submit ballots for VEOP and EVLOA is right around the corner. Very difficult personal decisions will need to be made in a very short timeframe. While we cannot tell anyone what to do, APFA is committed to getting you all the information you need to make an informed decision. Please stay up to date with all APFA and Company communications as new Q&A’s are frequently added.
The Union fought hard to get the best possible options for our Flight Attendants. Contrary to rumors, these offers will not be changing. Our situation moving forward is not one we have seen before. The overage is Company-wide and reductions need to be long term not quick fixes. The possibility of furlough is real.
Know that if you have not been flying lately, our new world is a little unsettling and can be very stressful. This is said not to scare anyone, but to be honest about our new reality and the job you may be staying in or coming back to. We are proud of ORD-Based Flight Attendants who have banded together to support each other on and off the airplane. Our commitment to and support for this base will not waiver. We are in this together and we will get through this together.
Please join the APFA Telephone Town Hall tomorrow for all the latest information about the Extended Voluntary Leave of Absence (EVLOA) and Voluntary Early Out Program (VEOP) options that were recently offered.
Please respect your coworkers in these challenging times. Stay safe!
In Solidarity,Â
