8.10.20 – APFA ORD Base Brief – Monday, August 10, 2020
Monday, August 10, 2020
Hello ORD Flight Attendants:
Every day we are reminded of the strength and resilience of our Flight Attendants in these challenging times. We are so proud of ORD! Please continue to read all APFA email and company communication to stay up-to-date with all the changes at work.
Over the past weeks, leaders from the House, Senate and White House have participated in ongoing negotiations for the next COVID-19 relief package. Our Government Affairs team has been working tirelessly to gather support for the aviation Payroll Support Program (PSP). Please read today’s latest hotline to find out how you can help.
The deadline for VEOP/EVLOA/STLOA request is Wednesday, August 12th. If you are looking for additional information the Town Hall videos are now posted on APFA.org along with Q@A. There are numerous ballots open now for retirement, various leaves and base transfer. Please be double check your ballot entries and take screenshots!
APFA and the Company have reached an agreement for a one-time base transfer effective October 1st, to fill staffing needs at bases after VEOP/EVLOA are processed. Ballots for transfer must be submitted by Saturday, August 15th at 0830 (CDT). Please read the July 27th hotline for all details.
There is a lot of good information on APFA.org regarding unemployment. Recently, there have been issues with Flight Attendants who extended PVLOA after the initial 3-month leave. Please reach out to our specialist David Arnette at [email protected] for assistance, if you have been impacted.
APFA welcomed the announcement that all passengers aboard our aircraft are now required to wear a face mask. Passengers are also required to fill out a health screening assessment during check in. If a passenger is willfully non-compliant with the face mask policy, fill out a CERS report so Corporate Security can take the next steps.
Did you know a 35R refers to a meeting for the purpose of investigation of any matter which may eventuate in the application of discipline? The name refers to JCBA Section 35.R., Right to Union Representation. Please reach out to your local Union Reps with any questions about representation at meetings with the Company.
When you have a workplace conflict issue, we strongly suggest you call a APFA Professional Standards Representative. We believe the peer-to-peer approach to conflict resolution is highly effective. It is also preferable to a solution that involves management which can compound the problem. Jillian Bocenda is the ORD Rep. She can be reached at 847-828-1431 or [email protected].
Remaining September Bidding Timelines
The September Allocation and Staffing calls were held last week. Sequences continue to be built with the same parameters that were in place for August. Job hours are down slightly system-wide.
- ORD decrease month over month: SEP 60,708 v AUG 64,484 v JUL 51,753.
- MSP satellite hours are also down SEP 918 v AUG 1,015.
- Turn volume is down slightly (38% v 40% AUG), small increase in 2day (45% v 43% AUG). We will keep an eye on that number in order to keep trip type balanced.
- ODANs have increased to 4.8 starts a day v 3.9 in AUG.
- LHR 86 is the only IPD sequence.
- Domestic 787 flying is slim, 1turn on 8/8 and DFW 2day operates only 9 days total.
- The long ANC is still on the bidsheet.
Thank you for your hard work, patience and flexibility during this turbulent time. Things are changing daily. Please stay up-to-date by reading the APFA Hotlines and Company mobileCCI messages. We remain available for questions. Be kind to one another and stay safe.
In Solidarity,Â
