8.26.20 – An Important Video Message from APFA National President Julie Hedrick
Wednesday, August 26, 2020
APFA National President Julie Hedrick:
Involuntary Furloughs
Tuesday, August 25, American Airlines announced an involuntary furlough of 8,099 Flight Attendants. Today, we need everyone to continue the fight for an extension to the Payroll Support Program to prevent our colleagues from furlough and keep them connected to pay and healthcare.
Please contact your elected officials today and every day until a bill is passed.
Because of the calls that APFA members have made, the PSP extension has support on both sides of the aisle.
Let’s keep up the fight and get this done.
- Write and Call Congress
- Capitol Switchboard: (202) 224-3121Â
- Senate Directory
- House Directory
- Busy signal? Voicemail full? Call your Representatives’ in-district offices.
Example Script:
Hi, I am an American Airlines Flight Attendant, an APFA Union member, and your constituent. My job is at risk. Congress agrees that the extension of the aviation Payroll Support Program is necessary, but we cannot get it extended unless Congressional leaders negotiate and pass a stimulus bill immediately.
This program has been my lifeline, but if Congress does not extend the Payroll Support Program now, US aviation workers like me will lose their jobs on October 1st.
The entire US aviation community is standing together to support a clean extension of the Payroll Support Program, but we must act quickly.
In Solidarity,
Julie Hedrick
APFA National President
