Extend the Payroll Support Program NOW!

Last night, Speaker Nancy Pelosi unveiled a $2.2T stimulus proposal, signaling a desire to pass coronavirus relief legislation before the end of the week. Importantly, this revised version of the Heroes Act, a continuation of the CARES Act which was passed in March, includes an extension of the aviation Payroll Support Program that will protect our jobs for the next 6 months. We are glad that the line of communication between Speaker Pelosi and Secretary Mnuchin is open again, and we are hopeful that the two are finding common ground. This is precisely why we cannot let up the pressure on our Representatives – let’s get the PSP extended this week!

All of your efforts have had an enormous impact. A clean extension of the Payroll Support Program is a top priority in both chambers of Congress and on both sides of the aisle. Thousands of jobs are on the line. Our deadline has put massive pressure on Congress to consider a larger COVID-19 relief package, prevent further economic damage, and of course, extend the Payroll Support Program for US aviation workers.

It is not too late for a stimulus bill to materialize. If both sides of the aisle cooperate, a deal could come together in a matter of hours. This is why we need to contact our Representatives and Washington officials daily.

Additionally, we have standalone legislation in both the House (H.R.8345) and the Senate (S.4634) that would extend the Payroll Support Program and save our jobs through March 31st, 2021.

Congress has two ways to get this done—a stimulus package or a standalone bill—so there are no excuses. We will not accept inaction. Congress has shown tremendous bipartisan support for this extension, but support alone won’t get this done. WE NEED ACTION. Congress: SAVE OUR JOBS NOW!

The single most important thing you can do daily: contact your Senators and Representatives. They will put pressure on their leadership to make this extension happen. Make sure your representatives are representing you and your job.
