A CALL TO ACTION

Urge Your Representatives to Co-Sponsor H.R.8345 and S.4634
Extend the Payroll Support Program NOW!

Today, 8,000 APFA members and thousands of other aviation workers woke up without a job and through no fault of our own. These past few months we have mobilized like we have never seen before. Everyone—Unions, airlines, Democrats, Republicans, the House, the Senate, and the White House—all agree the Payroll Support Program needs to be extended. The alternative is grim. Thousands of workers lose their jobs, the aviation industry lags, and the economy struggles for everyone.

We have advocated for a stimulus bill for months and we have alerted Congress to the result of inaction. This October 1st deadline should be no surprise. But now we are out of time. We must urge our Senators and Representatives to support and co-sponsor the standalone legislation introduced by Rep. Plaskett and Rep. Joyce in the House (H.R.8345) and Senator Wicker and Senator Collins in the Senate (S.4634).

These furloughs are not yet set it stone. It is not too late to bring back these jobs. But Congress must act quickly to pass a clean extension of the Payroll Support Program in time to save our jobs.

Contact your Representatives today, tomorrow,
and until we get this done.

Example Script:

I am an American Airlines Flight Attendant and your constituent, and today I lost my job. Our situation is beyond urgent. 8,000 American Airlines Flight Attendants and thousands of other aviation workers are now unemployed. Without immediate action, these jobs will be lost for years to come. It is not too late to save these jobs, but only if Congress acts immediately.

It is up to Congress and the White House to help thousands of workers who have lost their jobs and health insurance—not only in aviation but across our entire economy. Aviation is an economic driver and our prospects for recovery are severely weakened if Congress does not extend the Payroll Support Program immediately. Airline industry employment cannot simply be brought back overnight. Mass layoffs will do great damage to the sector, with potentially irreversible consequences.

We only have a few days. Please support and co-sponsor the extension of the Payroll Support Program (H.R.8345/S.4634). You are my only hope.
