President Trump Ends Negotiations for
Coronavirus Relief Package
Today, out of nowhere, President Trump announced he would discontinue talks on a coronavirus relief package until after the November election. Just last month, the President had committed support for the aviation industry. Just this weekend, in reference to a stimulus bill, he tweeted to “GET IT DONE.”
The announcement that the President would end negotiations limits the paths we have to secure the PSP extension. But we have come too far and are too close to stop fighting.
The majority of Congress understands that the American people need relief now. The majority of Congress agrees that we must extend the aviation Payroll Support Program or risk more significant economic repercussions. Preserving American jobs should be a top priority for any elected leader in the United States.
Flight Attendants are struggling. American workers are struggling. Our elected officials should not be turning their backs on the American people. The President does not control what Congress does. We will continue to urge Congress to do their job and find a pathway forward to save the tens of thousands of our jobs that are at risk of being lost for years to come. We need your help.
In Solidarity,
Julie Hedrick
APFA National President
