A CALL TO ACTION

Deadline Set for Tuesday Night

#ReliefNow #ExtendPSP

Thousands of aviation workers have now been furloughed for 19 days, including 8,000 of our own APFA members. Our lives have been thrown into chaos and uncertainty, but it is not too late for Congress to pass the relief we all deserve.

House Leadership and the White House have continued to negotiate details of a relief package. Progress has been made, and the proposals are closer than they have been in months. Last night, Speaker Pelosi set a Tuesday night deadline to finalize a deal to pass the relief package before the November 3rd election.

The sides appear to be more at odds over the package’s substance, not the dollar amount. Over the weekend, President Trump was again outspoken on his support for a $2.2T or more extensive package. Details on testing language, funding for cities and states, childcare, tax credits for lower-income Americans, and business liability protections are still being worked out. However, your activism these past few months ensured that an extension of the Payroll Support Program would be included in an overall relief package.

APFA members, we need your activism today and tomorrow and until we pass this bill. Please do it for yourself, do it for our colleagues. The single most important thing you can do daily is contact your Senators and Representatives. The goal is to create volume. Call, tweet, email, repeat. Engage others to do the same. Your Representatives will put pressure on leadership to ensure this extension happens. Contact them now:

Contact your Representatives today, tomorrow,
and until we get this done.

Next, turn up the heat on the decisionmakers:

Congress has shown tremendous bipartisan, bicameral support for the PSP extension, but support alone will not get this done. Aviation workers need action now. Americans everywhere need relief now. We have a deadline – let’s get it done. With just 15 days until the election, your Representatives in Washington are extra sensitive to their constituents. If Congress is asking you to protect their jobs, then let’s make sure they protect ours.
