10.19.20 – LGA Base Brief – Monday, October 19, 2020
Monday, October 19, 2020
Greetings LGA Flight Attendants,
We know these are extraordinary times. The impact of the pandemic continues to weigh on us all. We are grateful for your resilience in facing the challenges of pandemic flying every single day.
Reserve InformationÂ
One aspect of the new reality that looms large is the prospect of being back on reserve. Many of us have not been on reserve in years. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with how the current reserve system works.
Crew Change on the Flight Service Website continues to be a valuable resource to understanding and navigating scheduling systems. The complete ROTA guide is published there as well as training videos that walk you through how to use it. NY Flight Service is also offering reserve refresher courses this fall at both LGA and JFK. November classes are scheduled at LGA on Nov. 10th and 12th and at JFK on Nov. 11th. Flight Service also plans on offering more classes in December. Check your Company email for details on class times and exact locations.
Payroll Support Program
We have not given up on Congress passing an extension of the Payroll Support Program that would alleviate the job losses we have experienced. Please continue to call and write your congressional representatives in Washington to press them to finally pass this important legislation.
Returning from a LeaveÂ
Over the next several months we will be welcoming back some of our members who have taken voluntary leaves of absence. Before you return to work, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the temporary changes to onboard service and other procedures related to COVID-19. The Company has provided a series of documents on your tablet. Go to My Publications in Comply 365 to review those.
Professional Standards
Please remember that Professional Standards should always be your first recourse for settling internal issues. Reaching out to a union representative to resolve conflicts keeps management out of the equation and limits the possibility of a Company investigation or disciplinary action.
Carol Glenn and Meilan Smith are the NY Professional Standards representatives. Their contact information is
Carol Glenn (314) 435-4717 or via email: [email protected]. Meilan Smith (646) 436-0325 or via email: [email protected].
Minimum CrewÂ
The Company and the FAA continue to remain focused on eliminating minimum crew violations. Because many of us are now flying aircraft that we may not be familiar with be aware of the minimum crew requirements for the aircraft you are flying.
COVID-19 Testing at LGAÂ
We are pleased to report that free COVID-19 testing is now available onsite at LGA. The testing site is in the Terminal B Parking Garage on Level 1. The site is open 7 days a week from 9am until 7pm. No appointment is needed.
Pandemic Leave Policy
The Pandemic Leave Policy continues to change and evolve, and we continue to request updates from the Company. They have once again notified APFA of changes in the policy.
