Progress in Negotiations – We Need Relief Now
Negotiations between Speaker Pelosi and Secretary Mnuchin on coronavirus relief have been back and forth the past two days. Reportedly, they are “in range” of resolving differences on this overall relief package, which means that we are in range of saving thousands of aviation jobs.
Speaker Pelosi and Secretary Mnuchin both want to pass a coronavirus relief package before the election. We have momentum to secure the extension of the Payroll Support Program in this timeframe, but we need them to reach a deal soon. Likely this will carry on past tonight, but we see positive signals that there is path forward. Keep up the pressure!
Today, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced that he would hold a Senate vote on the coronavirus relief package should House Democrats and the Trump Administration break the stalemate.
We are in a crisis. Aviation workers need help. Americans need help. Call, email, tweet, repeat. Pressure the House Leadership and the Trump Administration to reach a deal. We will “deal” with the Senate vote once an agreement is in place.
There is a window of opportunity to get this done before the election, so we must dig deep to keep up the pressure. Your hard work is why we are on the cusp of passing a relief package. Let’s finish the fight.
