Company Quality Assurance/Check Rides
The Company is required to complete a minimum amount of check rides per year. The COVID-19 pandemic has prevented this program from moving forward. The Company has announced they will be resuming the Company Quality Assurance/Check Rides for the remainder of the year.
The FAA will also be stepping up their check rides. Please ensure your tablets are up to date and your batteries are properly charged at the start of your duty day. If you are having problems with your tablets or the batteries, document this with the Flight Service Center in CLT and fill out an ASAP Report.
New Mis-Award Process
The December PBS bid has closed. The results will be viewable on the 18th and finalized on the 20th. If you feel you have a mis-award or a question, you must now fill out a Support Form on the FA Portal. Go to the Crew Portal, in the top header at the far right-click the Links tab. In this tab you will see Support. Click on the support tab and complete the report. You should also complete an APFA PBS Mis-Award Challenge Form.
APFA Reserve Class
With the increased numbers of Reserves, and the increased seniority numbers having to serve Reserve during the holidays, we will be offering another Reserve training. Back by popular demand is your host, Charles Starks for this online interactive training experience.
We will be offering 2 classes. The first class will be on November 29th and will cover daily/future bidding and the RAPs. The second class will be held the second week of December right before bidding opens. Stay tuned for the times and start date of the second class. An invitation will be sent to anyone on our e-mail list.
If you are already on our list, keep an eye out for the invitation to the ZOOM meeting. If you would like to be added to the list, send your name and e-mail address (no company e-mails please) to [email protected]. The invitation will include a link to the ZOOM meeting and the process for joining is simple.
Mask Compliance/Professional Standards
If you see a co-worker from any department that is non-compliant with the mask policy, please report them to the APFA Professional Standards. The Company has taken drastic measures with employee non-compliance. We would like the opportunity to address this issue without the threat of jeopardizing someone’ss career. APFA along with all the Unions on the property take this issue very seriously and will address each call with urgency. Whether it be another Flight Attendant, a Pilot, Agent, or Mechanic, please report the incident to us first by calling the local union number at 704-665-7474.
Increased Onboard Service
The Company has announced they are going to standardize the service procedures onboard the aircraft. At this point, the only changes will be for the First Class Cabin. With the increase in COVID-19 cases rising across the country, APFA has voiced its opposition to any changes that could lead to increased exposure to our Flight Attendants. The Company has been receiving increased complaints of inconsistent service and they are taking it out on the Flight Attendants by issuing advisories for complaint letters. Until we can find a workable solution, continue to follow service procedures and contact APFA if you are called in for a meeting concerning a complaint. All CLT Base Representatives will accompany you to any meetings mandated by the Company.
International COVID-19 Restrictions
Different countries have different compliance regulations concerning COVID-19. If you are working a trip to an international destination, familiarize yourself with the local regulations and comply with them. You could be subject to personal fine or legal action for failing to comply with local laws. With the increase in COVID-19 cases, many states and cities are going on lockdown procedures. If you are on an overnight and have to leave the hotel for food, take a copy of your ID to provide to local authorities if challenged. Flight Attendants are considered essential workers in the United States. However, if you are in violation of a local ordinance, you may be asked to prove your position as an airline employee. This only applies to domestic locations. All international laws must be obeyed.
RDU Satellite Base
Flying out of RDU as a satellite base will begin with the March 2021 bid month. A satellite base has different rules than the home base and we are committed to making sure it is successful. Assurance of coverage is the main component. The elements of a satellite can be found in the JCBA Section 10.U. -Satellite Base(s).
The new coordinator for the RDU satellite will be Dee Dee Todd. We are looking for Flight Attendants who live in the RDU area and would be interested in covering these trips. Anyone interested in participating in the RDU satellite program, send your information to us so we can get started with a list of available Flight Attendants. Send your information to [email protected].
- Name
- Employee number
- Seniority number
- Equipment qualifications
- Email address
- Phone number
- Home address
- Travel distance from the RDU airport
Keep in mind the success of this satellite requires a commitment and effective communication with the coordinator. Thank you for your assistance and patience in organizing this satellite base.
APFA CLT is honored to serve you anytime. We continue to be amazed by the professionalism our Flight Attendants display every day.
Take care of yourselves, and each other. ~ The Charlotte APFA Team
