11.30.20 – LGA Base Brief – Monday, November 30, 2020
Monday, November 30, 2020
Greetings to All LGA Flight Attendants,
Thank you for your dedication over the Thanksgiving weekend.
With over 5.7 million fliers taking to the skies over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend our airplanes and crews were pushed to the limit in terms of space for social distancing and onerous sequences. In some cases that means multi-day trips with up to four legs a day. We here at LGA APFA appreciate your dedication. Know that we have been in constant communication with the Company regarding these arduous schedules and the amount of time that our Flight Attendants must spend in enclosed spaces with the threat of COVID-19 looming large every time we step on board our aircraft.
APFA, both nationally and here at LGA, have expressed our outrage at the risk the Company continues to take with our members health and safety because they chose to furlough too many members of our workforce. We continue to press the Company to recall our furloughed Flight Attendants to ease the burden of flying and exposure as the pandemic is ramping up and not abating any time soon. Daily, more Flight Attendants are notified of inflight exposure scares, and worse COVID-19 diagnoses.
PSP Action
The APFA Government Affairs department is coordinating a renewed effort to demand Congress act on PSP relief for American. APFA’s stance is that recalling our furloughed Flight Attendants is the right thing to do for members suffering that hardship, as well as providing relief to those currently on property shouldering the onerous conditions that the current operation imposes. Look for emails or sign onto APFA.org to see how you can do your part to help bring back our 7,985 furloughed members.
FAR Compliance
With our members flying on what for many are unfamiliar aircraft, remain vigilant in verifying minimum crew requirements. Make sure that once boarding has commenced you don’t leave the aircraft for any reason other than safety. If you are missing equipment, ask the Flight Deck to call for you instead of stepping off the aircraft to use the jet bridge phone.
Thank you again for all that you do. Your LGA APFA officers and the APFA National Leadership stand in solidarity with you. Please reach out to us via email or phone if you need any assistance. Stay safe, wear a mask, and take care of each other.
In Solidarity,
