Extended Voluntary Leave of Absence-2 (EVLOA-2) for
Active Flight Attendants and Flight Attendants Currently
on a 15- or 18-Month EVLOA
As announced earlier this month, the Company is offering active Flight Attendants the opportunity to apply for a 3-, 12-, or 18-month Extended Voluntary Leave of Absence-2 (EVLOA-2) with a start date of April 1, 2021. Earlier this week, APFA Leadership was able to reach a Letter of Agreement with the Company to enhance the leave offering to include Flight Attendants currently on a 15- or 18-month EVLOA, giving them the opportunity to extend their leave by converting to an EVLOA-2 beginning April 1, 2021. The ONLY change to that original offer applies to those currently on a 15- or 18- month EVLOA and wish to extend.
The EVLOA-2 election will close Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 2359 CT. You must be in active status as of Friday, February 5, 2021, to be eligible to take the EVLOA-2. The effective date of the EVLOA-2 is April 1, 2021.
Active status means you are a Flight Attendant on payroll receiving pay, including paid sick and vacation leave, salary continuance, FMLA, or a previously offered PVLOA, STLOA, VLOA, or currently on an EVLOA . In this case, it does not include those on military leave.
If you are currently on a PVLOA, STLOA or 15- or 18-month EVLOA, you may elect to take an EVLOA-2 and the benefits associated with your previous leave will terminate on March 31, 2021, and the EVLOA-2 will start on April 1, 2021.The new extension options for those currently on an EVLOA are as follows:
- If you are currently on a 15-month EVLOA as of February 5, 2021, you may elect to convert your 15-month EVLOA to an EVLOA-2 for 12 or 18 months.
- If you are currently on an 18-month EVLOA as of February 5, 2021, you may elect to convert your 18-month EVLOA to an EVLOA-2 for 18 months.
- Flight Attendants on a 24-month EVLOA as of February 5, 2021, or Flight Attendants scheduled to convert to an EVLOA on a date after April 1st, 2021 are not eligible to elect to convert their EVLOA to an EVLOA-2.
