737 MAX Update

This morning, the Company announced the grounding of seventeen 737 MAX aircraft. This precautionary measure came in light of a directive from Boeing regarding a potential production issue with an electrical component. With APFA’s full support, American removed these aircraft from service out of an abundance of caution until the issue is resolved.

Here are the facts:

  • Seventeen 737 MAX aircraft are affected.
  • Boeing engineers have already recommended a fix and are awaiting FAA approval.
  • No other aircraft type is affected.

APFA is currently working to secure pay protection for those Flight Attendants affected by the grounding. American has committed to keeping APFA updated as the fix is implemented for these seventeen aircraft.
