5.20.21 – APFA ORD Base Brief – May 20, 2021
Thursday, May 20, 2021
Hello ORD,
A Special Board of Directors Teleconference was held Tuesday, May 18, 2021, to fill the vacant Board of Director’s (BOD) Negotiator position. I am honored to have been chosen by the Base Presidents as the BOD appointed member to the Negotiating Committee.
There are seven (7) members on the Negotiating Committee consisting of the National President, two (2) representatives elected by the membership at large, two (2) representatives appointed by the National President, and two (2) representatives appointed by the Board of Directors. I will be filling the position left vacant when Paul Hartshorn, Jr. became the National Communications Chair.
I am excited to join the Committee. I have worked with most of the other members over the years and have the utmost respect for them all. They are a dynamic team from diverse backgrounds, and I believe my knowledge and experience as a Base President will be a great addition.
I have lived through the growing pains of JCBA implementation and am keenly aware of the challenges our Flight Attendants have faced and continue to encounter every day. The Base Presidents feel this is an important perspective to bring to the team.
Neither the Constitution nor the Policy Manual requires my resignation as ORD Base President. When Negotiations resume, I will scale back my duties at the Base, and ORD Vice President Dray Howard is willing and able to assume additional responsibilities. She will have added support from our base reps. Rest assured, Dray and I are committed to the Flight Attendants in ORD and will make sure the transition is seamless.
Thank you for your support.
In Solidarity,
Susan Wroble
