July 2021 Staffing and Allocations
All,
I have heard loud and clear your concerns regarding the Reserve percentages and how senior Reserve went for July. I informed the Company that our members are tired of the usual excuses each month as to what the drivers are. I advised them that we are 4% higher than July of 2017-2019, and that Flight Attendants working through these unprecedented conditions, are demanding answers. I indicated that I would be willing to discuss any plan to reduce the number of Reserves in the upcoming months.
Many Flight Attendants have asked me what to expect going forward, and some have even considered transferring to other bases where reserve is more junior. While I am not able to predict what August and beyond will look like, I will commit to getting as much information as possible to help you plan ahead in the coming months.
The Company is in the final stage of implementing the programing for Reserve minimum notification (short call), JCBA Section 12.K.4.d.i. This will give Reserves who are bidding aggressive the option to bid for trips that open under three hours. Once implemented, this will give us the opportunity to discuss this option for Lineholders as well. We are hopeful this will reduce the number of standbys needed on a daily basis.
Here are the staffing numbers and trip compositions:
Total block hours for July 2021: 143,650 hours
- MIA: 129,071
- FLL: 5,858
- PBI: 2,736
- MCO: 3,323
- ATL: 2,662
