When cancellations due to COVID-19 or other reasons are known in advance, we see many sequences that need “repair” or that will show “failed continuity” until the sequences have had the canceled segments removed and the sequence rebuilt. Due to these upcoming cancelations, the Company has notified APFA leadership that there will be a delay in the first run of the Trip Trade System (TTS) and opening of the Electronic Trade Board (ETB) for all bases for the month of July. APFA has expressed our opposition to this delay as we realize how important it is for you to begin trading and dropping trips in a timely manner to achieve your desired schedule.

Delays to TTS and ETB create a significant inconvenience when it comes to making changes to your schedules and planning for your commitments outside of work. Since the beginning of the pandemic, APFA has secured Letters of Agreement every month that have offered pay protections for full and partial COVID-related cancellations. In accordance with the letter of agreement, possible delays to the monthly bidding and trading systems timelines are permitted, if necessary.

June and July Pay Protections

Over the past few weeks, Flight Attendants have experienced an influx of canceled flights due to COVID-related factors. It is important to note that pay protections may also apply to these canceled sequences originating in June and July. These cancelations will be covered under the June and July pay protection Letters of Agreement already signed by AA and APFA. They will be included in the COVID cancellation list found on the Flight Service Website. This list is updated twice a week. As a reminder, you may double-dip via TTS and UBL over a pay-protected sequence. However, using the ETB on any calendar day of a sequence with pay protections will negate the protections.
