Rescheduling Issues Part II: Reschedules After Origination (Departure of First Flight)

We continue to see reschedules throughout the system, and many of these reschedules are occurring mid-sequence or at the conclusion of a sequence. Crew Tracking continues to incorrectly reschedule Flight Attendants after the origination of their sequence. Please contact your APFA Representative if you feel you’ve been rescheduled incorrectly, so we may correct this problem and utilize the Crew Scheduling Error language in JCBA 11.O.4 (if applicable).

JCBA Section 10.J.4: Rescheduling After Origination (Departure of First Flight)

JCBA 10.J.4., which applies to a rescheduling after origination (departure of first flight), states that you will be advised of your remaining duty assignment for that day and for the balance of the sequence within three (3) hours after the disruption is known. During this period in which you can be rescheduled, you must remain contactable and able to report to the departure gate of the rescheduled flight.

Example: I am LAX based, and was scheduled to operate LAX-DFW, with a layover in DFW. Upon arrival into DFW, my crew was advised that a DFW-ELP-DFW turn was added to our sequence, reducing our layover in DFW, but still returning us to LAX within the footprint of our original sequence. Is this a legal reschedule?

Reserve Flight Attendants should be utilized before rescheduling Flight Attendants on a sequence. Only if there is insufficient time to call out Reserve Flight Attendants on a RAP and there are no available Standbys should Flight Attendants who do not have a disruption to their sequence be rescheduled.
