7.16.21 – APFA ORD Base Brief – EVLOA Recalls
Friday, July 16, 2021
Hello ORD!
We have been receiving many questions regarding the return of Flight Attendants currently on an Extended Voluntary Leave of Absence (EVLOA). There are 293 ORD-based Flight Attendants in that status and the list below shows the seniority breakdown.
As you can see, the list is relatively junior. In accordance with the contractual language of the JCBA, Flight Attendants returning from EVLOA will be subject to Reserve their first month back as needed based on occupational seniority. Historically, November, December and January have somewhat higher Reserve percentages due to the holidays. Flight Attendants returning from EVLOA should keep that in mind when balloting for their month of return. Current Flight Attendants at the base need to also be aware, as this will impact Reserve rotations.
Training will also be an issue. There are roughly 3,300 Flight Attendants on EVLOA and about two thirds of those need training before they return to flying. We do not know how many ORD Flight Attendants are in this category. The training center will be busy this fall. Keep this in mind as you plan for CQ.
Thank you and safe travels!
Be kind to one another. Stay safe.
In Solidarity,
