Negotiations Update #2
In our previous hotline, we announced we would be returning to the bargaining table. Negotiations were paused in March 2020 with the onset of the global coronavirus pandemic.
The Negotiating Committee has been meeting weekly since then to prepare for a return to the bargaining table. We have been working on sections of the Agreement that were under active negotiations last year.
We have secured bargaining dates with the Company through the end of the year. Negotiations will commence in August.
The Committee is looking at the remaining sections of the Agreement to identify key priorities for our bargaining. This includes many of the core sections of the Agreement, including Scheduling, Reserve, and Compensation.
We have heard a lot of concerns about the Reserve system, given the Reserve percentages and increasing seniority of those serving Reserve. While there are no quick or easy fixes to this situation, we want you to know that your negotiators recognize this is an issue of primary concern for our members. We will be soliciting input from you on this and other topics to make sure we are focused on your priorities.
The Committee is preparing another survey for the membership to identify your priorities in our bargaining. This will supplement the three previous surveys. Given the changes in flying and the operation over the last year, it is important to obtain current information and feedback from the membership in developing our priorities.
As we reported in our previous hotline, we will be providing much more information about what is going on in negotiations, including details on the proposals and the parties’ positions. We believe that an informed membership is our greatest strength. We are also putting together a strong contract campaign to support the bargaining.
Please stay tuned for ways to get involved in fighting for your contract.
