NYC State of Emergency
As most of you know, NYC declared a state of emergency after Ida spawned catastrophic flooding that unfortunately cost lives. Whether you live locally or commute, it was a quick disastrous event right here where we live and work.
If you experienced an attendance or performance infraction, you should contact your FSM and explain your situation. Provide any evidence you have, and copy Penelope or me in your communication. I understand that social media provides instant relief by venting, but the result is usually an opinion, not a resolution.
Unpleasant interactions during these stressful moments when you are trying to convey urgency don’t help. Without focusing on what we cannot change, I ask that you bring these issues directly to us, the officers, who address them and work with management locally to resolve them. Details are crucial to follow-up on issues. Posting an unpleasant experience on a public forum but not reporting it to the people who can remedy the problem can only exacerbate an already uncomfortable situation where your safety is at play.
Folks dealing with returning from EVLOA and training date issues, please read the company and Union’s communication consistently put out. Unfortunately, I have dealt with several cases where there has not been room to accommodate returning Flight Attendants where possible. I am conscious of the lack of time and notice and what that can do to us. Again, please take these issues directly to us to work with the training department and flight service locally to ensure we understand your problem and work collaboratively to assist you.
I will be posting an allocations forecast this evening and a complete base brief this weekend to bring you up to speed on a lot that is happening.

Please remember to take care of one another, and let’s not lose sight of where our base was and is now headed. We have a bright future on the horizon for New York.
