Guyana, Canada, and Suriname Now Requiring Proof of Vaccination
Guyana (GEO) has been added to the list of countries requiring proof of vaccination for entry. As of today, the list also includes Suriname (PBM), and Canada (all destinations).
Carrying your vaccination card is required for these destinations.
- Effective with any sequence touching October 25th and beyond, crewmembers entering Canada must be fully vaccinated.
- Suriname (PBM)Â already requires any crew operating turns or laying over to be fully vaccinated. If you are not fully vaccinated and bid/ trade into Suriname sequences, you will be removed without pay protection.
- Guyana (GEO) already requires crews to be fully vaccinated effective immediately. If you are not fully vaccinated and bid/ trade into Guyana sequences, you will be removed without pay protection.
If you are unvaccinated, DO NOT bid for any Canada*, Guyana** or Suriname flying**.
*If you are awarded or assigned any sequence(s) to Canada that originate from Oct. 25 onward, you will be removed during base expansion (Sept. 19) without pay protection.
**If you are awarded or assigned any sequence(s) to GEO or PBM throughout October, you will be removed during base expansion (Sept. 19) without pay protection.
Your training record in FOS is your HI*9. If you see code 21 under Special Training Courses on your HI*9, that means American has received and processed your COVID-19 vaccine information. (You may also locate your HI*9 in mobileCCI).
TTS/UBL, ETB and ROTA/D will be programmed to read the code 21 beginning September 14th. PBS will not, but will be soon.
The code 21 must be in your record for the trading systems to process requests that touch October 25th onward for any Canada flying. Additionally, this code will be required for all pickup and trade requests for all GEO and PBM flying in October. The full verification of your vaccination card and entry of code 21 must be completed for the qualification to be active. Verification could take at least a week once submitted.
If you are serving standby, be sure to carry your vaccination card in the event you are awarded flying to Canada, Guyana, or Suriname.
American has told us to expect the list of countries/destinations requiring proof of vaccination to grow, so APFA continues to encourage all Flight Attendants to be vaccinated to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
