Historical Coverage Needed Dates in December

Coverage Needed (CN) is a term applied to a day in a bid month that occurs when not enough Flight Attendants bid in PBS to fly on that day. PBS does not consider holidays any different than other days of the month and must cover the trips that have been scheduled for the bid month. PBS will allow as many Flight Attendants to be off on a particular day (whether it is a holiday or not) as possible. However, PBS will reach a point when it has to start forcing coverage because it cannot finish the award process with the remaining pairings or Reserve availability days.

Below are the CN dates for December 2019 and 2020. We wanted to provide a “look back” for Flight Attendants to use when deciding on a strategy for bidding. Using 2020 numbers will not be as helpful as the data from last year is unbalanced due to the reduced staffing because of the pandemic. The seniority numbers are a relative guide for each base in determining where the dates began. The days are listed as YYMMDD. We hope you find the following data helpful.
