A New Year’s Message From APFA Professional Standards
Your APFA Professional Standards team wishes everyone a very Happy New Year.
As we embark on 2022, we want to call your attention to the purpose of Professional Standards. Professional Standards has long been a tool for Union members and peers to address issues between us and correct situations without ensuing disciplinary action by the Company. The past several years have created a level of dissent and stress among the workforce that we haven’t seen in years prior. With that being said, we still have work and conduct rules as well as policies and procedures that we must abide by. We have a very diverse workforce with many different thoughts and ideologies. We need to work together with respect and professionalism. When situations arise that bring conflict that can’t be resolved immediately, we urge you to turn to Professional Standards as your first step to conflict resolution.
Your Professional Standards reps are members of your Union who are working Flight Attendants and peer support volunteers. The process is confidential and non-punitive. We are here to listen and discuss issues that arise in the workplace and to consult on situations that need attention. We work closely with the Pilots APA Professional Standards team when needed. You are welcome to call or email us if a situation arises.
For more information, visit the Professional Standards page on the APFA website, which also includes contact information for Professional Standards Representatives at each base.
We wish you a safe, happy, and healthy New Year.
In Solidarity,
Jillian Bocenda
